Badging Services

Individuals who require unescorted access to the Air Operations Area (AOA), Security Identification Display Area, Secured Area, or Sterile Area must possess an airport photo ID Badge.  Application for an ID Badge is made on the ID Badge Application Form.  This form (found below) must be completely filled out, properly signed, and presented to the Airport Badging Office for processing.  Only fully completed application forms with original signatures will be accepted.  Do not submit a photo or faxed copy; it will not be accepted for processing.

Badge holders that need to renew their badges must complete a renewal application form and have it signed by their organization’s Authorized Signatory.  If the badge holder is a direct tenant of the airport they can see the Airport Badging Office for the signatory portion.  Those requesting badge renewals must do so within 30 days of the expiration date indicated on their current badge.  If a renewal is requested after 30 days, it will be handled as a ‘new’ application.

All ID Badge applicants must present two (2) orginal forms of identification or documentation when applying for and each time they renew an airport ID Badge (these must be originals, no copies).  At least one form of identification must have been issued by a Government Authority and at least one must include a photo.  The documentation must be able to verify the applicant’s identity as well as employment eligibility.  For your reference we have provided a list of acceptable documents.

Badging Process

  1. When a need is identified for an individual to have access to the airport, the individual will need to apply for an airport identification card.
  2. The applicant can access the proper forms through the links below.  If the applicant is a direct tenant of the airport, the badging office will act as the Authorized Signatory.  The applicant should completely fill out the application and have the Authorized Signatory review and sign.  NOTE: All information requested in the paperwork must be provided.  Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant.
  3. After review and signing by the Authorized Signatory, the applicant must take the application and originals of identity documents to the Badging Office at the airport.  Badging office hours are listed below.  The Badging Office confirms the legitimacy of the identity documents, copies them, initials the paperwork appropriately and forwards it to the Airport Security Coordinator for processing.  If the level of access requires a criminal history background check, fingerprints will be taken at this time.  NOTE:  Applicant must bring originals of the required identity documents outlined in the application paperwork; no copies will be accepted.
  4. The application will then be submitted for appropriate background checks. The badge fee must also be paid at the time the application is submitted.
  5. After final approval of the application, the Badging Office will notify the applicant that they are cleared to attend the training and receive an airport badge
  6. The applicant must attend badge training within 30 days of being notified that they are eligible or Airport Administration will consider the application to be withdrawn.  Badge fees are not returned due to costs incurred in processing of the applications.

The Badge holder is responsible for the badge replacement fee at the time of issuance.  Payment can be made by cash or check (payable to Kalamazoo County Treasurer).

Expiring Badges

Anyone no longer needing a badge or deciding to allow their badge to expire without renewal must return the badge to Airport Administration.  There is no charge for worn out/ destroyed badges upon exchange through the Badging Office.  Individuals with badges that are not renewed for 6 months after expiration will be removed from the records and the paperwork will be destroyed.  If one of these individuals applies for airport access and has never returned the previous badge, the cost for the new badge will be the current cost for a lost badge replacement.
